Census Is the systematic process of collecting, Analysis, Interpreting, and printing the statics of people in a particular area over a specific period. These statistics of people and their housing are based on demography, Economic and social matters.

Moreover, Census final results provided the actual Tanzania population as 61,741,120 people. Therefore, On this Census the population of females is 31 Million and 30 Million males. Also, buildings are 14 Million in the whole country.

Tanzania’s Mainland has a total number of 59.8 Million people while Zanzibar has 1.8 Million.

Also during the collection of these statistics sex, age, economic level, level of education of people, housing Quality, and death are considered. This census will be the sixth to be conducted in Tanzania since the united Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964. Other censuses in Tanzania were conducted in 1967, 1978, 2002, and 2012. census in Tanzania conducted after 12 years.

These statistics easier distribute social services to citizens including Disabled groups, females, children, youths, and elders, and simplify planning policies on development depending on the nature of the environment. Tanzania Bureau of Statistics always selects some people who will be able to help in the collection of statistics by considering:-

Basic Requirements for census applicants in Tanzania in 2022

1. Nationality, an applicant must be a Tanzanian.
2. Age, an applicant must be 18 years and above.
3. Education level, he/she must be able to read and write.
4. State of Mind, the state of mind of applicants must be sound. (mental fitness).
5. An applicant should not be imprisoned before.

7. Land ownership and IT information.
8. Birth and Death occurred within a family.
9. Death is caused by birth.
10. House quality and resources are owned by the family.
11. Questions about agriculture and animal husbandry.
12. Social Security funds questions.

Importance of Census in Tanzania Development.

• Identify the size of the population within the country. Conducting a census enables us to how many people living within the country with their activities.
• Easier provision of Social Services like water, health centers, schools, water, Electricity, etc. due to the population available in a specific area.
• Aids provision. Government and International Agencies can provide their help due to the population available in a certain area.
• It determines the number of emigrants and immigrants.
• It helps the government in formulating economic policies. Individual economic activities can help the government to identify the level of the economics of its citizens.
• To provide necessary frameworks for deriving samples for field research to be undertaken in the future.
• To define the conditions of economic and social enterprises in the public and private sectors in the terms of legal status, economic activity, and workforce size by gender and nationality.
• To determine the trend of the population over time. through periodic censuses, one can determine how the population has increased or decreased.
