Panya Road is a group of street youths (robberies) involved in looting citizens’ properties. In Tanzania especially in the Dar es Salaam region where this problem takes place in several streets such as Mabibo, Magomeni, Sinza, Tandale, etc. However, Government sets several strategies to deal with this challenge which has been weakening the peace of citizens.
Moreover, Panya Road has conducted several looting of properties. For example, on 23rd September 2022 police arrested three vehicles from Panya Road including Toyota Carina (T314 BVY), Toyota Noah (T26O, BEP), and Toyota Noah (T218, BYS). Also, police succeed to arrest five motorbikes with ID numbers (MC 918 DEH, MC 405 CVM, MC 856 DFY, MC 206 DDK, and one had no ID number). Therefore, these robberies used all vehicles to transport stolen properties to other regions for sale.
Furthermore, Apart from these vehicles police arrested drugs that were used by Panya Road. The heroin of 35 grams, Marijuana of 63.6 Kilograms, and syringe of 09.3 Kilograms were arrested by police in Dar es Salaam City.
Therefore, the Police Commissioner of police in Dar es Salaam said. “The police force will not hesitate to take legal action against parents. Especially parents who hide their Children involved in the events of robbery Crimes and Theft”
Moreover, Panya Road apart from looting citizens’ properties also kill innocent people. For Example, a Few days ago Panya Road killed a girl who was a student at the University of Dar es Salaam. But, These Criminals occurred in Dar es Salaam City but in other Cities in Tanzania are taken place. These include Arusha, Mbeya, Mwanza as well as Dodoma City.
Should be noted that In previous years their criminals were not much as now. Therefore, The government of Tanzania under President Samia Suluhu Hassan with strong cooperation from the police force takes operations in the whole country to stop these evils.
Finally, The Tanzania government should also cooperate with the local security force (sungu sungu) to eliminate this problem. Because this led citizens to lose their peace in their streets.
